Board of Trustees Meeting 7-18-23
Present: Cynthia Whitmore, Nicole Curry, Arlene Davis, Marilyn Zimber, Julie Lanphear, and Heather Nichols
Absent: Kathy Gill, and Paul Gehrig.
6:01 pm C. Whitmore calls meeting to order.
No public Comment.
Friends of the Library: M. Zimber reports that the 10th Mountain Division Band concert around 70 people attend and received $168 in donations. Mentioned the Nelson Brother’s Band Concert on August 27. The Library as per the June Trustee Meeting will pay $600, half the cost.
Correspondence: H. Nichols received a card from Elaine Panty who recently visited the Library along with a $100 donation.
A professional storyteller, Lynn Morgan stopped by the Library to talk about her programs. It is $275-$300 for an hour long interactive program. We will not be setting up a program at this time but will look into it as a possibility for a program next summer. H. Nichols will share the website.
Minutes: A spelling correction is needed for the June minutes. Motion to approve minutes by A. Davis, seconded by N. Curry.
No change to pandemic response. The shield around desk will stay up as it allows space to hang more event posters.
Financial report accepted. H. Nichols will begin adding a list of credit card payments in addition. Motion to accept by N. Curry and seconded by A. Davis.
Director’s report: June saw almost a 100 more people visit the library compared to May. Checkouts in all categories have increased, the Wild Center pass has been checked out 17 times so far this year. C. Whitmore requests that there is a blurb about Wild Center passes in all summer Bargain Hunter ads. The Loon Speaker program was attended by 12 people. The first trivia and movie night by 32 adults and 18 children. H. Nichols will talk to aides about coming to work movie nights as additional paid help.
New Business:
The 2024 Budget is due to the Town Board by September 22nd. H. Nichols will set up times in August when she and Trustee Members can work together to have it ready.
NCLS has been negotiating a new Broadband Program. It is not required but will reduce cost of equipment for all member libraries. We are required to complete and assurance form that we will not back out of the contract if we want to join. C. Whitmore asks for a motion to accept.
