Public Comment:

Friends of the Library Report:
Marilyn says everything is going well. The 10th Mount Division band “Avalanche” is playing at the pavilion this Sunday, then the week after will be Jon Foster.
The Friends got a check from the Damoth Fund to be used to help create a directory of the artists at the Art Show.

We received our yearly check from the Town of Clifton.

Minutes of the previous meeting are approved: Motion by Nicole, seconded by Don.

Financial Report is accepted. Various trustees would be interested in knowing what percentage of the budgeted payroll we’ve spent so far this year. Knowing this would help us plan whether or not to offer extra hours.

Report of the Library Director was accepted.

Old Business
Pandemic response update: No real changes. St. Lawrence County says we’re still a low risk area. New Covid tests were acquired from Mark LeRoux.
The loon speaker went over well, with about a dozen people attending. She will probably return next year and will have more information for helping loons in the area.

New Business
Helena has been coming in extra during the week. This has been working out well and has allowed Heather to get other work done.
Checkout numbers are up and more patrons have been using the library during the summer. Playaways in particular have been going out almost immediately after they’re returned. Families have been coming in checking out large stacks of books. Wild Center passes have been going out.
Already 71 people have been on the Polar Bear storywalk.
This Thursday is movie night: We will show The Bad Guys at the CL firehall. Paul said he would help, but he is not present to confirm. Cindy and Kathy will help. We need someone to keep an eye on the popcorn machine. Heather can do tech stuff. She will go over around 5pm. Mark LeRoux will be there, and he will bring the pretzel machine over. We will also have a donation jug. Heather has advertised this on Facebook, in the Bargain Hunter, at the state campsite, and at Coffee Fever. She will ask Chuck Yartz to put a notice for this on the electronic sign.
Code of Conduct: Patron Responsibilities and Conduct Rules – We will update this section of our policies. Heather has expanded it and made restrictions clearer. Trustees will review and vote on these changes next month. A few weeks ago Heather received a harassing phonecall at the library desk. This has not recurred. If a librarian or aide doesn’t feel safe they should call for help or leave.
We have a box of Legend of Cranberry Lake books from several years ago. We used to sell them for a quarter. Heather will try putting some of them on the front desk for free.
Adirondack Collection books cannot be checked out, unless they already have barcodes on them.
Heather is looking for ideas for a Northern NY Community Foundation grant. We could put together different backpacks containing everything a person would need for various activities (hiking, telescopes). We could get a pickleball set to rent. Or we could ask for more snowshoes poles and/or an extra set or two of adult snowshoes. Marilyn mentions the idea of getting a cornhole game set. Kathy mentions the idea of getting a game night activity pack (Uno, Yahtzee, etc.).

Next monthly meeting: Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 6:00 pm.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:45 pm. Motion by Nicole, seconded by Arleen.
