Clifton Community Library
Board of Trustees Minutes
June 15, 2021
Present: President Cindy Whitmore, Don Lashomb, Kathy Gill, Director Sandra Griffin, Heather Nichols, Julie Lanphear.
Absent: Nicole Curry, JoAnn Young.
The meeting was held in the Community Room and called to order at 6:01 pm by President Cindy Whitmore.
Public Comment:
Julie requests that we sponsor an AARP driving class again in the near future.
Friends of the Library Report:
No Friends report this month. Friends book donations must be boxed and left outside the door downstairs. Marilyn texts to say the Friends would like to receive “sellable books, no textbooks or medical books.”
Correspondence/Communications:
We’ve received a thank-you note from Jean Bogart, who won the raffle for the gift basket. We will do another basket soon because patrons seemed to like it.
Minutes of the previous meeting are approved: Motion by Don, seconded by Kathy.
Financial Report is accepted. Money from the town will be received in July.
Report of the Library Director was accepted.
Old Business
Pandemic response: As of today the governor has lifted many safety precautions and requirements. Sandy recommends that we forego quarantining of books, sign-ins, etc. However, she would like to continue asking patrons to wear masks until the county vaccination rate is a
little higher. Trustees are supportive of this.
John Dragun dropped off our “Slow Down” signs. Sandy has the Paypal account set up for the library to receive payment. Signs will be $15, and CL50 maps will be $10.
Website update: New books are listed on the front page of the website, with links for patrons to place holds on them. Also uploaded on the site are pictures taken inside the library. Cindy suggests spotlighting patrons, particularly children, asking them what they think of the books
they’ve checked out.
Sandy suggests spotlighting one artist per month (or every few weeks) inside the library, providing display space for them to show their work.
Book weeding is going well. Never-circulated DVDs have been purged. 28 DVDs were not in good shape (discs scratched). In total, 147 DVDs so far have been purged.
New Business
Policy update: Minor changes to one document (updating hours, replacing “Librarian” with “Library Director”).
Going forward, we will have ten meetings per year, with no meeting in December. We can get end-of-year reports done by the January deadlines without a December meeting.
Curtains: We need to meet soon to put the pavilion curtains up.
Next monthly meeting: Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 6:00 pm.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:38 pm. Motion by Don, seconded by Kathy.
