Clifton Community Library
Board of Trustees Minutes
October 20, 2020

Present: President Cindy Whitmore, Nicole Curry, Don Lashomb, Ted Tate, Kathy Gill, Library Director Susan (Kate) Kosier, Julie Lanphear.
Absent: None.
The meeting was held in the community room and called to order at 6:03 pm by President Cindy Whitmore.

Public Comment:
Julie says the town will give us about the same amount as last year, basically covering our payroll. She says that, with heat and lights, if town gave everything we asked for it would be 74% of our budget. The town may not get all the money from the state it usually would. She asks about the idea of going on the school budget. Don says he is completely against the idea; Cindy says it’s been shelved because we have so much money in savings anyway. Julie says the town board wants to see accurate figures for daily patron visits.

Friends Report:
None.

Correspondence/Communications:
We received a letter of thanks for providing WiFi in the building. Linda Jones wrote us a letter providing ideas for things we could do.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved: Motion by Nicole, seconded by Ted.

Financial Report accepted: Motion by Don, seconded by Nicole. (Usually there is no motion to accept this.)

Report of the Library Director was accepted.

Old Business
The library is open by appointments and is cleaned at the top and bottom of the hour. Patrons-per-day has varied between one and fifteen. We are allowed no more than three patrons in at any given time due to limited space, but Julie will ask Supervisor Hooven if it’s okay if more are
allowed in at one time if they’re all from the same family (for example, a parent bringing in their three children at once).

New Business
Kate will have a new newsletter out soon.
Kate will have surgery next week and take Friday and Monday off. Sandy will work those days.
The Adirondack Community Church in Newton Falls asked us to help out with their Halloween activities. Kate (and/or her family) will try to be there next Saturday with s’mores and stories.
Theresa Ellis from Tupper Lake has agreed to do our books, payroll (starting January 1), monthly financial reports, and yearly reports.
The WiFi hotspot in Newton Falls has been shut off. The grant expired earlier this year and we could not get a partner to help us with the cost.

Next monthly meeting: Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 6:00 pm.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:37 pm. Motion by Don, seconded by Kathy.
