Old Business

Nancy has tracked down the erroneous negative balance and corrected it.

The book which a patron contested (The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker) will stay on the shelf. Kate may add a brief cautionary notice on the first page, explaining that the book contains extreme and grotesque scenes.

A thank-you was sent to the sons of Judith Lowell, who bequeathed us a $1,000 endowment.

Rather than purchase a new microwave for the room, Kate brought up an existing one from downstairs.

New Business

We need to send a note to Diane Nagel, thanking her for the Christmas wreaths, as well as notes to Kelly and Sam, thanking them for their service to the library.

The Town of Clifton has made payments for Devin and Kate’s retirement, but Nancy says she can’t find corresponding records of receipt from the library to the town. We will have to go back further in our records and find some proof, or make a payment that we owe.

Britney Rixon will be hired as a new assistant librarian. Cindy will bring this up at the next town board meeting.

We need to find a replacement trustee. If Terri Smith does not declare that she definitely wants the position within a week or two, we will put out a call to the public.

We are having a bit of a problem with people bringing dogs into the library. There are no dogs allowed in the building (aside from service dogs). We should get the exact policy details from Karen and produce a sign that makes things clear.

During White Out Weekend we will help with a kids event downstairs, which will take place while the contra dance is happening at the fire hall. The organizers will help us with this (Kate will not be the sole supervisor) and will drop off a check.

Next monthly meeting: Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 6:00 pm in the Library.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:54 pm. Motion by Don, seconded by Nicole.
