Old Business

We have a signed agreement with Mark Friden, Town of Clifton Historian, regarding the Adirondack Collection.

Small flags were placed out on the lawn for Flag Day (today), and these can now be picked up.

New Business

Friends of the Library book sale will be on the weekend of 27-28 July, with an ice cream social on the Sunday.

“Summer @ CCL” pamphlets are needed at: Lakeside, Cranberry Lake campsite, the Senior Center in Piercefeld, Sevey’s Point, Coffee Fever, Barb’s Beauty, and at Lisa Langevin’s.

The Free WiFi sign is missing, and we will either need to find it or get a new sign.

The new flag with a library symbol has arrived; this will go up when library is open.

We’ve received a $950 NCLS Outreach Grant to provide services to senior citizens who can’t get to library. Kate met senior citizen housing organizer Sharon Conner in Star Lake and made plans for a “Lunch with a Librarian” event to be held there on Friday, September 7th. Coffee Fever will cater (at cost) and seniors who don’t have a library card can sign up. A library drop box will be provided to the center, and Kate will go twice a month to deliver books to them. The seniors can also mail books back for free courtesy of NCLS. At the hospital, Malinda says that volunteers haven’t met yet, but when they do we will set up a schedule regarding their part of the grant.

Doug Rose is coming on July 18th to do a presentation on Sam Glanzman (DC Comics) who did a series of graphic novels about WWII. Local(ish) authors Peggy Mooers, MA Nobel, and Jennifer Daniels have all agreed to come give presentations this summer as well.

Jean Pomerville has agreed to do a “PAWS for Reading” activity with her dog. Kids read to the dog, and then Jean reads a story to them.

Kate taught a technology class this past Monday. There seems to be interest, especially getting people set up with NCLS apps on their tablets, so we will have more of these classes in the future.

The Lions Club donated a Merlin CCTV machine.

A new women’s book club starts later this month (at Coffee Fever).

Monday night we have a reception for veterans. Three veterans donated items, and we will be getting a Purple Heart from someone in Star Lake.

Kelly Houle is doing an arts & crafts program for kids starting on July 11th. Regina Yeo is looking into whether or not we can get free lunches for the kids through the CNY Food Bank, but if not then the library will buy food (using Damoth money).

Flyers advertising the June 25th summer concert (Mama Pajama) went home with every kid in Pre-K through 6th grade.

Kate went to the Showcase Showdown at NCLS on May 15th. She met with the NCLS director and invited her to visit Cranberry Lake.

This fall we should have a closed-door meeting for trustees only regarding a new strategic plan for our library. Our previous five-year plan expired last year.

We should buy a “Cranberry Lake 50” map to loan out. Marilyn says the Friends could buy some of these for the library.

Kate has attended notary training and will take the test next month.

We have a lot of extra Damoth money and think it could be used for: a ladder, additional shelving for the children’s room, a coffee cabinet, a new table (possibly custom-made by Roger Backus). Kate has a letter stating that we can now buy books with Damoth money—this is a major change. Cindy wants each of us to think of something that the library could really, really use.

People seem to like the basement area. We could put a “Reading Room” sign along the railing (if the town board approves).

Next monthly meeting: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Library.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:08 pm. Motion by JoAnn, seconded by Zoel .
